Deep Dive

CareCredit Payment Processing

CareCredit is now available as a native payment mode on any invoice or estimate. Select CareCredit from the payment mode picker and Symplast displays the patient’s linked account status with a real-time available balance check. Staff can process in-office by entering the card number directly, or initiate the send-to-device flow for remote completion. The invoice or estimate updates automatically the moment payment is confirmed.

Remote CareCredit Payment Links

For patients completing payment remotely, staff initiate the transaction from the invoice and select the send-to-device option. Patient information and the charge amount auto-populate from Symplast. After reading the required SMS consent disclosure and confirming verbal consent, the secure link is sent to the patient’s mobile number or email. The patient completes the transaction on their own device and selects their preferred promotional financing option.

CareCredit Eligibility & Application

Staff can check CareCredit eligibility from the Appointment Details window without opening an invoice. For patients who are not yet cardholders, a prequalification runs as a soft inquiry only — no impact to the patient’s credit score. If the patient prequalifies and chooses to proceed, the full application is completed in-office or sent to the patient’s device. Results are returned as approved, declined, or pending.

Promotional Financing Configuration

Administrators configure which promotional terms to offer at each location in Admin Settings > Integrations > CareCredit. Available options include No Interest if Paid in Full within 6 or 12 months, and Reduced APR with Fixed Monthly Payments at 24, 36, 48, or 60-month terms. Minimum transaction amounts can be set per promotion and apply automatically when patients select their financing option.

Integrated CareCredit Refunds

CareCredit refunds are initiated from the affected invoice using the standard Issue Credits flow. Staff create and submit a credit note, then select CareCredit as the refund mode and choose the original transaction to refund. The refund posts directly to Synchrony and returns a confirmation upon approval. Previously refunded transactions are shown as ineligible to prevent duplicates. CareCredit refunds are permanent once processed and cannot be voided or deleted.

CareCredit Status Visibility

A patient’s current CareCredit status is now surfaced throughout Symplast — on the Calendar appointment tile, Appointment Details, Patient File, and Patient Financials. Three status states are shown: Cardholder (an active account is linked and available balance is displayed), Not Yet Prequalified (account check returned no match), and Unknown (the patient has not yet been synced with CareCredit).
